Mumbai City FC defeated Jamshedpur FC 4-2 in a six-goal thriller in ISL 2021-22 at the PJN Stadium, Fatorda on Thursday to consolidate their position on top of the table.
Two top teams of this season played this evening and they dipped out a match full of thrill and excitement.
For Mumbai City FC Cassinho (3’), Bipin Singh (17’), Igor Angula (24’) & Ygor Catatau (70’) scored the goals. While for Jamshedpur FC Komal Thatal (48’) and Eli Sabia (55’) reduced the goal difference.
The first 45’ was completely dominated by Mumbai City FC while Jamshedpur FC look hapless. But it was an entertaining half as there were goals, there were fancy footwork and crunching tackles. Â
After getting outplayed in the first half and conceding three goals, Jamshedpur FC came out with intent in the second 45 and fired a couple of goals in quick time. Komal Thatal led the comeback with his stupendous strike and Eli Sabia headed one in to bring down the goal deficit to just one.
Thereafter, Mumbai City FC took control of the match and Ygor Catatau came off the bench and scored an excellent goal from a critical angle. Jamshedpur FC kept on trying but Mumbai City FC defended strongly.
Jamshedpur FC have now suffered their first loss of the Hero ISL 2021-22.
Cassio Gabriel won the Hero of the Match Award.
In the next match Odisha FC will face NorthEast United FC. Meanwhile SC East Bengal will face an in-form Kerala Blasters FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday.
