Mumbai City FC defeated Punjab FC 3-2 to qualify for playoff in Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
After Odisha FC, Mumbai City FC is the second team to qualify for playoffs.
It was a hard fought win for Mumbai City FC as during half-time, Punjab FC was leading 2-1 and had a full grip in the match.
For Mumbai City FC, Iker Guarrotxena scored a brace in 53’ and 64’, while Lallianzuala Chhangte scored the other in 16’. For Punjab FC, Madih Talal (37 and Wilmar Jordan Gil (39’) scored the goals.
Iker Guarrotxena was adjudged Key Performer of the Match.
Mumbai CITY FC and Odisha FC both now have 35 points from 17 matches, however, Odisha FC hold the edge against Mumbai City FC in the standings with a slightly better goal difference.
Punjab FC stayed at tenth place with 17 points.
Punjab FC will next face NorthEast United FC on March 07 while Mumbai City FC will face Jamshedpur FC on March 08.
