East Bengal FC getting humiliated by top Indian clubs is no more a news but a daily affair. The red and golds home encounter against the islanders once again strengthened the ongoing trend. The Red & Gold Brigade lost to Mumbai City FC by 3-0 in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 match at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata.
While the quality of Mumbai City FC squad as on date is way ahead to that of East Bengal FC but what astonishingly lacked was the intention to fight and prove a point.
Constantine opted for the age old ling ball theory which was too predictable and easy for the Mumbai defence line to read, anticipate and clear their lines. Mumbai dominated the game from the word go. Playing an array of exquisite passes and confusing the EBFC defenders with their intelligent movement. The islanders coach should be unhappy as they missed plenty of chances otherwise the scoreboard would have looked much more humiliating and insulting for the home team.
Greg Stewart won the Hero of the Match Award.
