League One club Wigan Athletic Center Forward Joe Garner is on the way out to join SC East Bengal. Joe Garner likely to become new foreigner of SC East Bengal. The 32-year-old, who is the club’s top scorer with seven goals, was left out of Wigan‘s game against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. Garner is out of contract at end of the season and has asked to be released early. He signed a 12-month extension days before Wigan were placed into administration last July. His former team-mates Danny Fox and Anthony Pilkington joined Bengal where former Liverpool striker Fowler is head coach.
Garner started his career with Blackburn Rovers before joining Carlisle United. Garner had a three-year spell with Preston North End, where he made over 150 appearances and won the 2015 Football League One play-off Final. Garner moved to Wigan Athletic in 2018.
Garner has represented England at under-19 level. During the 2006 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship elite qualification, Garner scored in a 2–1 loss to the Belgium under-19s and also made appearances against Northern Ireland under-19s and Serbia & Montenegro under-19s. Garner also appeared in an under-19 friendly against the Netherlands.
