Odisha FC and Chennaiyin FC played a 2-2 draw in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Wednesday.
Both teams had to win this game in order to keep their slim chances alive but a tie means while they are mathematically still not out, their chances of making the cut are all but over.
Rahim Ali (2’) opened the scoring for Chennaiyin FC before Javi Hernandez (18’) pulled one back for Odisha FC and Jonathas Cristian (51’) to help them go in front in the second half. But Nerijus Valskis (69’) found the back of the net for Chennaiyin FC to ensure they return with one point.
Rahim Ali won the Hero of the Match Award.
In the next match, Jamshedpur FC lock horns with Mumbai City FC. SC East Bengal will next play against Mumbai City FC at the PJN Stadium on Tuesday, February 22.
