Odisha FC defeated NorthEast United FC 1-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco on Friday.
The only goal of the match was scored by Jonathas Cristian in 81’.
The Higlanders started on the front foot as they dominated the first half and were surely the better side in the second as well. A couple of free headers from the corner were headed wide. However, despite been defending for most of the game Kalinga Warriors emerged on top with a late goal by Jonathas Cristian in 81’.
In the dying moments, NorthEast United FC tried hard to draw level but Odisha kept them at bay and ensured they bag the full points.
Odisha FC now have nine points from four matches, three behind league leaders Mumbai City FC who have 12 points from five games. NorthEast United FC, meanwhile, dropped to ninth with four points from five games.
The Hero of the Match Award was won by Jonathas Cristian.
Tomorrow in a double header, ATK Mohun Bagan will face off against Chennaiyin FC at 7:30 pm IST and later, FC Goa will lock horns against Bengaluru FC at 9:30 pm IST. Meanwhile SC East Bengal will face an in-form Kerala Blasters FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday.
