Odisha FC stunned Bengaluru FC 3-1 in ISL 2021-22

Fantastic start by Odisha FC as they defeated a star-studded Bengaluru FC 3-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco on Wednesday. This is the first time Odisha FC has beaten the Blues in the ISL.

Javi Hernandez (3′, 51′) led the charge for Odisha FC with a brace. Aridai Suarez (90 + 4′) goal sealed the deal for Odisha FC. For Bengaluru FC, Alan Costa (21′) scored one while Sunil Chhetri failed to convert a penalty kick.

The first half ended in all square and Bengaluru FC began the second session as a better team, but Hernandez’s second goal brought Odisha FC back in the match. Though Bengaluru FC won a penalty through Cleiton Silva but Sunil Chhetri failed to convert. After that OFC’s defense was very solid despite all the pressure they were put under.

The Club Award was won by Odisha FC while Javier Hernandez won the Hero of the Match Award.

Next NorthEast United FC will play against Kerala Blasters FC on November 25. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal will next play against ATK Mohun Bagan, the famous Kolkata Derby, on November 27, Saturday.
