SC East Bengal parts away with head coach Jose Manuel Diaz and his deputy Angel Puebla Garcia, a statement from SCEB confirmed on Tuesday. The statement confirms that they will leave the club due to personal reasons.
“SC East Bengal confirms that Jose Manuel Diaz and his deputy Angel Puebla Garcia have mutually agreed to part ways due to personal reasons,” SCEB said in a statement.
“We thank Jose and Angel for their contribution and support to the team in the ongoing season. I wish both of them all the best for their future endeavours,” said SC East Bengal CEO Col. Shivaji Samaddar.
Former India captain and assistant coach Potsangbam Renedy will take charge as interim head coach. East Bengal next face former champions Bengaluru FC on January 4 at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.
“Former India captain and our assistant coach Renedy Singh has taken over charge as interim head coach,” the statement added.
East Bengal are winless so far in the ISL 2021-22 season. They have played eight matches, and have lost four and drawn four and are placed at the bottom of the league table.
