SC East Bengal played a 1-1 draw with Kerala Blasters FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday in Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22. The Red & Gold Brigade are still in search for the first win in this season.

Tomislav Mrcela (37’) scored for SC East Bengal with a header while Alvaro Vazquez (44’) equalised before halftime.

Alvaro Vazquez looked to have sent the Kerala Blasters into the lead but the referee reversed his decision and disallowed the goal as he blew his whistle before the striker had put the ball past the goalkeeper. Within minutes, Prabhsukhan Gill made a crucial save, keeping Antonio Perosevic at bay.

Soon after Tomislav Mrcela found the back of the net with his head. He got on the end of a long throw from Raju Gaikwad and headed the ball past the keeper from close range.

With a couple of minutes to go to halftime, Alvaro Vazquez equalized for Kerala Blasters FC.

In the second half SC East Bengal played much better football and put KBFC defense into pressurize situations, but failed to find the net.

Adrian Luna won the Hero of the Match Award.

In the next match Hyderabad FC will face NorthEast United FC on Monday, December 13.

SC East Bengal will next face NorthEast United FC on Friday, December 17, while Kerala Blasters will face Mumbai City FC on Sunday.
