South Korea defeated Portugal 2-1 to qualify for Round of 16 in 2022 FIFA World Cup in Group H match at Education City Stadium on December 02, in Al Rayyan, Qatar.
Hwang Hee-chan’s stoppage time goal ensured South Korea made it to the last 16 for the first time since 2010. The goal also crushed Uruguayan hopes of making it to the knockouts who needed to win against Ghana by a three goal margin. The South Americans could only manage a 2-0 win and were knocked out by virtue of less goals scored.
Ricardo Horta gave Portugal the lead in 4′ while Kim Young-Gwon equalized for South Korea in 26′.
South Korea qualified in the runner-up spot with four points while Portugal remained top of the table with six points.
