Spain defeated Japan 3-1 to win FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

Last edition’s Runners-Up, Spain have stamped their name on the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup trophy by defeating defending champions Japan 3-1 in final. They avenged defeat to Japan in the 2018 decider by beating the same side by the same score in the climax to a thrilling tournament. Salma Paralluelo emerged as the star of the final, scoring two (22’ and 27’) of three Spanish. Inma Gabarro scored the other goal in 12’. For Japan, Suzu Amano scored one back in 47’. Salma Paralluelo was adjudged Player of the final.

Spain also ended Japan’s undefeated run in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup at nine games. Japan’s last loss in the competition had been 1-0 to Spain in the group stage at France 2018.
