East Bengal FC showed a spirited performance before losing to Turkmenistan’s Altyn Asyr FC 3-2 in AFC Champions League Two Preliminary Round at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Wednesday.

East Bengal FC took the lead in 7′ through David Lalhlansanga, however, Myrat Annayev in 17′, Selim Nurmyradov in 27′ and Mihail Titov in 52′ gave Altyn Asyr FC a 3-1 lead. Saul Crespo in 59′ pulled back one for Red & Gold Brigades.

East Bengal FC did create a few more opportunities, but Altyn Asyr’s defence managed to thwart the attacks to preserve the 3-2 scoreline.

East Bengal FC will now play AFC Challenge Cup later in the year.
