Switzerland defeated Serbia in 3-2 thriller and qualifies for Round of 16 from Group G in 2022 World Cup

Switzerland reached the World Cup knockout round for the third successive tournament after prevailing 3-2 over Serbia on Friday to finish runner-up in Group G at Stadium 974 in Doha. They will face Portugal in Round of 16.

For Switzeralnd, Xherdan Shaqiri in 20′, Breel Embolo in 44′ and Remo Freuler in 48′ scored the goal while for Serbia, Aleksandar Mitrovic in 26′ and Dusan Vlahovic in 35′ scored.

Switzerland through to the round of 16 as the second-placed team in Group G. They lost out on top spot to Brazil only on goal difference as both teams finished with six points after Cameroon’s shock 1-0 win over five-time World Champion.
