India lost to Syria 3-0 in the final group match of Intercontinental Cup 2024 football at GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad.
With this win Syria won the Intercontinental Cup 2024. Mahmoud Al Aswad (7’), Daleho Irandust (76’) and Pablo Sabbag (90+6’) scored the goals for Syria. Earlier, Syria defeated Mauritius 2-0, while India played a goalless draw with Mauritius. Mauritius finished runners-up on better goal difference.
Syria is the third country to win the tournament. India won the tournament in 2018 and 2023, while the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea won in 2022.
