Thirty-two-time champions West Bengal qualified for the final rounds from Group C qualifiers of the 78th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy despite a goalless draw against Bihar in their third and concluding tie at the Kalyani Stadium. They finished with seven points.
Earlier, West Bengal began their campaign in style with a 4-0 win over Jharkhand. For host, Robi Hansda scored a brace while Manotos Maji and Naro Hari Shrestha scored a goal each.
In the second match, West Bengal defeated Uttar Pradesh 7-0. Robi Hansda scored four goals while Manotos Maji scored three for the hosts.
