West Bengal defeated Kerala 1-0 in the final to lift its 33rd Santosh Trophy at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Robi Hansda scored the only goal of the match in the added-time (90+4’) of the second half. He also won two top individual awards of the tournament – the Tulsidas Balaram Player of the Match award and the Peter Thangaraj Player of the Tournament Award.
Earlier, West Bengal defeated Services 4-2 to clinch a place in the final. This was West Bengal’s 47th appearance in the tournament’s final. For West Bengal, Robi Hansda scored a brace in 45+2′, 90+6′ while Manotos Maji in 16′ and Naro Hari Shrestha in 45+4′ scored the other goals. For Services, Bikash Thapa scored one in 53′ and Juwel Ahmed Mazumder scored an OG in 74′.
In Quarterfinals, West Bengal defeated Odisha 3-1. For West Bengal, Narohari Shreshtha in 45+2’, Robi Hansda in 77’, Manotos Maji in 90+2’ acored the goals. Rakesh Oram (25’) scored the only goal for Odisha. This is the 52nd time that Wast Bengal qualifies for semifinal.
West Bengal finished on top of Group A of Final Round at Deccan Arena with 13 points. They defeated Jammu & Kashmir 3-1 in their opening match of Group A. For West Bengal, Robi Hansda in 3′, Naro Hari Shrestha in 12′, Bikram Pradhan in 47′ scored the goals.
In the second match, West Bengal defeated hosts Telangana 3-0. For West Bengal Narohari Shrestha scored a brace in 45+3′ and 56′ while Robi Hansda scored the other goal in 39′.
In the third match, West Bengal defeated Rajasthan 2-0. Rabilal Mandi in 45’ and Naro Hari Shreshtha in 56’ scored the goals.
In fourth match, West Bengal played a goalless draw with Manipur.
In the fifth match, West Bengal defeated Services 1-0. Basudeb Mandi scored the goal in 46’.
