West Bengal Finished Runners-up in Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy 2025-26 after losing to Manipur 3-0 at the Guru Nanak Dev University Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Lourembam Naocha Singh (17’) and Ngayungmi Kashung (37’). Amom Krish Singh (90+2’) scored thae goal for mainour.
In semi-final, West Bengal defeated Mizoram 3-2. Rintu Malik scored a hattrick (15′, 49′, 69′) while for Mizoram, Joel Lalremruata scored n 26′ and Enok Lalchelzing scored in 67′. Rintu Malik was adjudged Player of the match.
West Bengal won the championship – 18 times (1962, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1994-95, 1995-96, 2003-04, 2024-25), finished runners-up 10 times (1976, 1988, 1999-00, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2017-18, 2023-24, 2025-26)
Earlier, West Bengal defeated Tamil Nadu 2-1 in their opening match of Group B at GNDU Sports Complex. For WB, Rajdeep Paul in 32′ and Rintu Malik in 86′ scored the goals while for Tamil Nadu, A Suresh scored in 80′. Rintu Malik was adjudged Player of the match.
In the second match, West Bengal defeated Meghalaya 4-2. For WB, Rajdeep Paul scored three goals (44′, 78′ and 90+4′) while substitute Sagen Hansda scored one in 77′. For Meghalaya Chanjib Chetry (13′ & 38′) scored a brace. Rajdeep Paul was adjudged Player of the match.
In third match, West Bengal defeated Kerala 4-1 to Top Group B. For West Bengal, Rajdeep Paul scored three goals (9′, 50′, 73′) while Durgesh Tiwari in (52′) scored one goal. For Kerala, Mohammed Aflah A pulled back one in 90+1′.
