Defending and 33 times Champions West Bengal lost 2-3 via tri-breaker to Services in quarterfinal of Santosh Trophy 2025-26 at the Dhakuakhana Football Stadium. The match remained 0-0 in regulation and extra time. Shyamal Besra and Robi Hansda scored for West Bengal while Chaku Mandi, Karan Rai and Vijay J missed. West Bengal substitute goalkeeper Gourab Shaw saved two shorts.
West Bengal was placed in Group A of Final Round along with Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Assam, Uttarakhand and Nagaland.
West Bengal defeated Nagaland 4-0 in Group A opener. Robi Hansda in 2’, Sayan Banerjee in 32’, Akash Hemram in 49’ and Aqib Nawab in 90’ scored the goals.
In second match, West Bengal defeated Uttarakhand 1-0. Naro Hari Shrestha scored the goal in 90+7’.
In third match, West Bengal defeated Rajasthan 1-0 in Dhakuakhana. Substitute Sayan Banerjee scored the only goal of the match in 89′.
In fourth match, West Bengal played a 1-1 draw with Tamil Nadu. Nandha Kumar Ananthraj in 61’ gave Tamil Nadu the lead while Sujit Sadhu in 81’ equalized for West Bengal.
