West Bengal placed in Group B of Hero Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23 Final Round along with Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Railways and Haryana. West Bengal have qualified in the final round from group V as four best second-placed teams.
The Final round will start from June 14 at Amritsar, Punjab. Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Odisha, Karnataka and Jharkhand are placed in Group A. Haryana (Group I), Maharashtra (Group II), Himachal Pradesh (Group III), Jharkhand (Group IV), Tamil Nadu (Group V) and Manipur (Group VI) all topped their respective groups. Chandigarh (Group II), Karnataka (Group VI), Odisha (Group III), along with West Bengal advanced to the final round as the four best second-placed teams.
In Group V West Bengal defeated Arunachal Pradesh 3-0 and Uttar Pradesh 8-0, but lost to Tamil Nadu 0-4.
West Bengal had won the tournament twice in 1991-92 and in 1996-97, however they had finished runners up 13 times. Manipur had won 21 times and finished runners-up 4 times. Odisha, Railways and Tamil Nadu had won once each. Odisha finished runners-up 5 times, Railway 3 times and Kerala once.
