Argentina defeated Poland 2-0 to qualify for Round of 16 along with Poland in Group C match of 2022 FIFA World Cup at Stadium 974 in Qatar.

For Argentina, Alexis Mac Allister scored in 45′ while Julián Álvarez doubled the lead in 66′.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi missed a penalty as he equalled the most by a player since at least 1966 to miss two penalties. Asamoah Gyan of Ghana also missed two penalties out of four.

Despite the loss, Poland still qualified for Round of 16 as the second-placed team in Group C based on a better goal difference. Poland had a goal difference of zero while Mexico had a goal difference of -1.
