Chinese Taipei booked their place in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 quarter-finals after defeating Islamic Republic of Iran 5-0 in their final Group A tie at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Wednesday.
Lai Li-Chin (4′, 31, 65′) starred with a hat-trick with Chen Yen-Ping (40′) and Wang Hsiang-Huei (78′) scoring one each as Chinese Taipei sealed second place in Group A behind China PR to advance to the knockout stage.
Both teams earlier lost to China, however, Chinese Taipei only required a draw to pip Iran to a quarter-final berth. In Quarterfinal, China will either face Vietnam or Myanmar while Chinese Taipei will face either Thailand or Philippines.
