East Bengal club officials on Friday decided not to sign the final agreement with investor Shree Cement Limited, the officials announced in a press release on July 16, further extending the ongoing crisis over transferring of sporting rights.

This brought uncertainty for SC East Bengal to participate in Indian Super League.

The executive committee of East Bengal met for an emergency meeting where they decided in favour of not signing the final agreement, terming it ‘disrespectful’. The release was signed by 24 club officials.
