East Bengal FC’s Reserve Team suffered a 1–2 defeat against Sikkim Aakraman SC in the quarterfinals of the Sikkim Gold Cup 2026 at Paljor Stadium, bringing their campaign to an end at the last-eight stage. The result was a setback for the young Red and Gold brigade, who would have hoped to progress further in the tournament and gain valuable competitive experience.
The defeat also extends the Reserve Team’s recent quarterfinal struggles in the competition. In the 2025 edition, East Bengal went down 0–1 against Services in the same stage. Their best performance in the tournament remains a runner-up finish in 1997, a benchmark the club will hope to surpass in future editions.
