Defending champions East Bengal FC will begin their Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2026–27 campaign on November 13, as the country’s premier women’s club football competition prepares for another exciting season.
The upcoming edition of the Indian Women’s League is set to feature eight clubs competing for the prestigious title, with matches scheduled across Kolkata, Jamshedpur and Bengaluru. The competition will run until January 23, 2027, with a total of 56 matches to be played in a double round-robin format.
East Bengal FC will once again be among the leading contenders, having established themselves as the dominant force in Indian women’s club football by winning the last two editions of the league in 2024–25 and 2025–26. The Kolkata giants will now aim to secure a historic third successive championship.
Moshal Girls enjoyed an impressive run in the 2024-25 season with 12 victories, one draw and one defeat; and 2025–26 season, registering 13 victories and suffering just one defeat.
The 2026–27 season will feature six returning teams alongside two newly promoted clubs. The participating teams are:
– East Bengal FC
– Sethu FC
– Kickstart FC
– Nita Football Academy
– Gokulam Kerala FC
– BBFS Garhwal United FC
– HOPS FC
– Juba Sangha FC
HOPS FC and Juba Sangha FC secured promotion from IWL 2 after finishing first and second, respectively, in the 2025–26 season.
