In 1990 Rovers Cup Semifinal East Bengal met East Rafa Club of Bahrain. The Middle East Club was one of the strong contenders to win the tournament. On 17th November, in the semifinal East Bengal defeated East Rafa by 1-0. Chima Okeri scored the winning goal. The Red & Gold Brigade went on to win the tournament with a 1-0 win over Mahindra & Mahindra in final.
