In 1975 East Bengal defeated Bangkok Port Authority at the Group Stage of DCM Trophy. On 26th October East Bengal outplayed their opponent by 4-0. Shyam Thapa scored 2 goals while Surajit Sengupta and Kajol Mikherjee scored one goal each. East Bengal finished runners-up losing to Hanyang University of South Korea in Final.
