In 1973 IFA Shield Final, East Bengal played against Pong Yong City Club. In the 1970s East Bengal was simply unbeatable against any opponent. With Habib Akbar scoring two goals and Subhash Bhowmick scoring one, East Bengal defeated Pong Yong City Club by 3-1 to win the IFA Shield for 11th time.
