The Indian senior women’s team began their 2026 SAFF Women’s Championship campaign with a 11-0 victory against Maldives in Group B at the PJN Stadium in Margao on Monday.
Blue Tigresses, who are ranked 69th had shown no mercy to Maldives, ranked 167th in FIFA ranking.
For India, Aveka Singh (34’ 66’ 70’ 86’) scored four goals, while Priyangka Devi Naorem (11’ 17’) and Karishma Shirvoikar (53’ 68’) scored a brace each. Pyari Xaxa in 28’, Grace Dangmei in 40’ and Sangita Basfore in 60’ scored the other goals.
The Blue Tigresses will next face Bangladesh at the same venue on Sunday, May 31.
