India dropped to 121 in latest FIFA Ranking released in April 2024. After the 2-1 loss against Afghanistan in the second round of World Cup 2026 qualifiers in Guwahati last month, the Blue Tigers slipped four places.
India had broken into the top 100 last year, having won the Intercontinental Cup, the Tri-Nations tournament and the SAFF Championship.
Since then, India’s performance started to fall. After the AFC Asian Cup 2023, where India lost all matches without scoring a game, the ranking slipped 15 spots to 117th. And now it dropped to 121.
