Mumbai City FC defeated FC Goa on penalties in the second leg of first semifinal match of 2020-21 Indian Super League (ISL) at GMC Stadium Bambolim.
Both the teams were locked to 2-2 in the first leg. The Second leg went for 120 minutes but still both the teams failed to score. FC Goa was much disciplined with Mumbai City FC failing to register a single shot on target in the entire game. The battle came down to sudden death in a penalty shootout to decide the first finalist of season seven. Both coaches leaped a surprise as they decided to substitute their goalkeepers in the penalty shootout. FC Goa brought on Naveen Kumar while Mumbai City FC fielded Phurba Lachenpa in place of Amrinder Singh. It took 18 penalties in total to find the winner and Mumbai City FC hold their nerve to make the final with a 6-5 win.
The DHL Winning Pass of the Match Award was won by Saviour Gama. Ivan Gonzalez bagged the Hero of the Match Award.
The second leg of Semi-Final 2 takes place on 9th March where NorthEast United FC and ATK Mohun Bagan will lock horn.
