Japan defeated Thailand 7-0 to advance in SF of AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022

Japan booked their place in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 semi-finals after a 7-0 win over Thailand at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

They will face eight-time champions China PR, who defeated Vietnam 3-1 in their quarter-final, in the semi-finals on Thursday. 

Japan, the two-time AFC Women’s Asian Cup defending champions, also confirmed their FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia/New Zealand 2023 berth with the victory.

For Japan, Y. Sugasawa in 9‎’‎27‎’‎65‎’‎80‎’‎83‎’, R. Sumida in 48‎’, M. Iwabuchi in 15‎’‎ and H. Miyazawa in 45‎+‎2‎’ scored the gaols.

Thailand still have a chance to book their place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup through the playoffs.
