Lionel Messi finally won an international trophy after finishing on the losing side in four previous finals – three times in the Copa America and once in the 2014 World Cup. Messi led Argentina to its first Copa America title in 28 years with a 1-0 win over Brazil at the Maracana.
Not only people connected with Argentina, but most of the nations were clearly thrilled that Messi had finally won the international trophy that he so desperately wanted in his trophy cabinet. He has won numerous medals at club level, but the first for his country.
As an Indian sports follower we all can connect to an identical incidence that happened exactly 10 years back when sachin Tendulkar finally won the World Cup winning medal in Mumbai on April 2, 2011. India won the ICC World Cup after 28 years beating Sri Lanka in final.
Sachin Tendulkar had achieved every milestone during his cricket career, but World Cup was the only Trophy that was due for him. Tendulkar had come close to winning the World Cup a couple of occasions before that, when India lost to Sri Lanka in the semi-final of the 1996 World Cup and seven years later to Australia in the final of the 2003 edition in South Africa.
Despite scoring over 34,000 international runs, including 100 centuries, he still keeps on saying that winning the World Cup is the best moment of his Cricketing life.
So, it was India and Sachin waited for 28 long years, and now Argentina and Messi waited for 28 long years. A justice was leveled for India in 2011 and now for Argentina in 2021.
God will never leave you with empty hand if you work hard with proper dedication and vision.
