The unbeaten journey of East Bengal FC Reserve Team in Calcutta Football League Premier Division (CFL) 26-27 reflects hard work, dedication, discipline and a never-say-die attitude. Finishing as CFL 2026–27 Runners-up is not just a result; it is a glimpse of the future of East Bengal.
East Bengal finished their CFL 2026–27 campaign in emphatic fashion, defeating Coal India SPA 7–0 in their final Super Six match at the East Bengal Ground on Saturday. Akash Hemram (53’, 90+10’) and Bijay Murmu (10’, 60’) scored two goals each, while Mohammad Bilal (2’), Tanmay Das (66’, P) and Uttam Hansda (90+8’) completed a commanding victory.
The result saw East Bengal finish second in the Super Six stage with five points.
But their story had begun much earlier.
In the Group Stage, the young Red & Gold side finished top of Group A with 27 points, collecting eight victories and three draws. They defeated George Telegraph SC 3–0, Bidhannagar MSA 5–1, Railway FC 1–0, Mamoni Pathachakra 5–1, Kalighat MS 1–0, LL Kidderpore SC 2–0, Calcutta Customs Club 2–0 and United Kolkata SC 3–0.
They also held BSS Sporting Club to a 3–3 draw, drew 1–1 against SP Bhawanipore FC and shared the points with Mohun Bagan SG.
No defeat. No surrender. No easy steps.
Every match added another chapter to the story of a team learning, fighting and growing together.
For many of these young players, the CFL campaign was more than another competition. It was an opportunity to prove themselves, to handle pressure, to make mistakes, learn from them and return stronger. They played not merely as individuals, but as a team that slowly developed its own identity.
