In the year 1993, East Bengal went to Kathmandu to participate in WAI WAI Cup. In group matches East Bengal played against RCT of Nepal, Nepal Youth Team and JCF of Nepal.
East Bengal won their first match against RCT by 1-0. However, in the next two matches East Bengal drew with Nepal Youth Team and JCF. Score line was 1-1 and 2-2. In the semifinal, East Bengal defeated Terangun of Malaysia by 1-0. In the final East Bengal faced RCT, whom they defeated in the group stage match.
On 5th June in the final, East Bengal won the match by 3-0. Sisir Ghosh scored two goals while Kiron Khongshai scored the other goal.
