West Bengal finished as Runners-up in the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy 2026-27, after going down 3-1 to defending champions Manipur in the final at the Bengaluru Football Stadium. Debraj Das scored West Bengal’s lone goal, while Jogesh Singh, Jensan Meitei and Muskan found the net for Manipur.
Earlier, in the semifinal, West Bengal defeated Uttar Pradesh 1-0, with Ajijul Mondal scoring the decisive goal in the 29th minute. Arpan Mitra was adjudged the Player of the Match.
West Bengal topped Group B with seven points.
In their opening Group B match, West Bengal played out a 1-1 draw against Punjab. Ajijul Mondal put West Bengal ahead in the 56th minute, before Sartaj Singh equalised for Punjab in the 90+9th minute. Ajijul Mondal was named the Player of the Match.
In their second group-stage match, West Bengal registered a commanding 8-0 victory over Chandigarh. Ajijul Mondal (7′, 57′) and Suraj Gazi (47′, 73′) scored braces, while Ayush Rajak (12′), Debraj Das (39′), Suroj Halder (75′) and Ayan Karan (78′) contributed one goal each. Ajijul Mondal was once again adjudged the Player of the Match.
In their third and final Group B match, West Bengal defeated Karnataka 1-0, with Suraj Gazi scoring the only goal of the match in the 67th minute. Sukham Nelson Singh was named the Player of the Match.
