East Bengal FC finished their Durand Cup 2026 Group A campaign in emphatic fashion, defeating South United 5-0 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium), Kolkata, on Friday.
Dani Ramirez, Mohammed Rashid, Hardik Bhatt, Bipin Singh and David Hmar were on the scoresheet as the Red and Gold Brigade produced a commanding performance to secure their second win of the group stage.
East Bengal got off to a flying start, with Dani Ramirez breaking the deadlock in the 6′.
The Kolkata giants continued to dominate proceedings and doubled their advantage through Mohammed Rashid in the 24′, giving East Bengal a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
East Bengal continued their attacking dominance after the restart and added three more goals.
Hardik Bhatt extended the lead in the 73′, before Bipin Singh made it 4-0 81′.
There was still time for another goal as David Hmar completed the rout deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 90+5′ to seal a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
The victory saw Antonio Lopez Habas’ side finish its Group A campaign with two wins and one defeat.
East Bengal opened their Durand Cup campaign with suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat against Mohun Bagan Super Giant then an impressive 8-0 victory over CISF Protectors.
The 5-0 win over South United provided the perfect response and ensured East Bengal ended the group stage with a strong attacking display.
