The India U20 men’s football team continued their preparations for the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers with a narrow 1-0 victory over Singapore in their second closed-door friendly at the Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Sumit Sharma Brahmacharimayum scored the decisive goal in the 5′, handing the Blue Colts their second consecutive win over Singapore.
The result means India completed a clean sweep of their two-match friendly series against Singapore.
In the first friendly on August 3, India registered an impressive 3-0 victory, with Rishi Singh Ningthoukhongjam (45+2′) and Singamayum Shami (63′) scoring, while Singapore also conceded an own goal in the 83′.
The two victories provide valuable preparation for the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers, which will be held in Uzbekistan from August 31 to September 6, 2026.
India, coached by Mahesh Gawali, will face a challenging qualifying campaign in Tashkent. The Blue Colts are scheduled to play Syria on August 31, Uzbekistan on September 3 and Bangladesh on September 6.
The Indian team will now look to build on its positive performances against Singapore before beginning the crucial Asian Cup qualifying campaign.
