The emphatic victory saw the Moshal Girls create history by registering the biggest-ever win by an Indian club in an Asian competition, surpassing East Bengal’s men’s team’s 9-0 victory over Club Valencia of the Maldives in the 1985-86 Asian Club Championship.

For Moshal Girls, Olivia Anokye (48′, 58′) and Abeka Opoku (64′, 70′) Priyangka Devi Naorem (6′, 22′) scored a brace each, while Astam Oraon (15′), Abigail Antwi (49′), Sulanjana Raul (51′), Shilky Devi Hemam (56′), Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam (73′) and Soumya Guguloth (90+3′) scored a goal each.

With two wins from two matches, East Bengal are now just one victory away from securing a place in the AFC Women’s Champions League group stage. The decisive encounter will come on Sunday when the Moshal Girls face Malaysia’s Sabah FA.

Earlier, the Moshal Girls defeated Rajshahi Stars FC of Bangladesh 4-0.
