As East Bengal supporters, we have waited, suffered, dreamed and believed. The Indian Super League triumph brought us immense joy, pride and validation after years of perseverance. But for EBRP, celebrating a trophy was never meant to be confined within the walls of a club or among the fans alone.
Yesterday, that celebration found a much deeper meaning.
EBRP had the privilege of spending a beautiful afternoon with the students and faculties of Calcutta Blind School, sharing a special lunch and distributing basic grooming essentials as a humble token of love and goodwill. What began as a celebration of a football triumph soon transformed into something far more profound—a celebration of humanity, dignity and inclusion.
For generations, society has often spoken about bringing marginalized communities into the mainstream. Yet, in doing so, we have unknowingly created a divide between “us” and “them.” Hence, we chose to challenge that very notion.
The mainstream did not wait for the marginalized to come to it.
The mainstream went to them.
We did not gather to offer charity. We gathered to share joy. We did not visit to make anyone feel included. We visited because they have always belonged. The smiles we witnessed, the warmth we received and the bonds we formed reminded us that true inclusion begins when we stop treating people as separate and start embracing them as our own.
The students of Calcutta Blind School may not have seen the Red and Gold colours with their eyes, but they experienced the spirit of East Bengal with their hearts. And perhaps that is the purest way to experience football, community and love.
As we celebrated East Bengal’s historic ISL triumph, we were reminded that the greatest victories are not always won on football fields. Sometimes, they are won when barriers are broken, when prejudices are challenged and when compassion triumphs over indifference.
It was not merely a celebration of a championship.
It was a celebration of belonging.
It was a celebration of shared humanity.
And it was a reminder that East Bengal’s greatest strength has never been its trophies—it has always been its people.
Heartfelt THANKS to EBRP 🙏❤️💛
